Pepper Spray Restrictions

Although pepper spray is made from a natural derivative of chili peppers and is legal under U.S. law. It is considered a hazardous material and the federal government does impose certain restrictions on it. Especially related to mail and passenger air travel. Pepper spray in certain strengths, is considered a non lethal self defense device, but under certain circumstances, and when used on a person with other existing health problems it can cause a lethal reaction. Pepper spray cannot be sold to persons under the age of 18 or to convicted felons. The USPS restricts shipment of pepper spray through the mail.
Check with your local authorities to determine the pepper spray laws in your area.
